Scientist makes futuristic sock predictions
A scientist at Yahoo San Francisco has made a series of interesting predictions on how the internet will look in the year 2020.

As one of Dr Elizabeth Churchill's premonitions she suggested that socks will contain microchips to prevent them from becoming separated from one another.

Dr Churchill said: "My favourite scenario … calls for the development of sentient socks that can find each other.

''I want a sock drawer that resembles Noah's ark, with neatly assembled socks stacked two-by-two."

Other suggestions made by Yahoo!'s principal research scientist were ovens that could send emails when they needed to be cleaned and a fridge that could order food to fill its shelves when they became empty.

According to Dr Churchill's website, she claims to be interested primarily in how technology can fuel communication and connections.
