People wanting to take up an exercise routine to get them fit for summer should ensure they have the right form of footwear to improve their performance.
A pair of sports socks
and appropriate trainers to suit your sport are essential purchases according to Jon Lipsey, editor of Men's Fitness magazine.
Mr Lipsey said: "You might think that not wearing socks will help keep your feet cool when it's hot but if it is warm then your feet will get sweaty, and when they get sweaty they'll rub against the inside of the shoe, which can cause blistering."
He advised against running without socks, as this can damage the skin on your feet, especially when attempted for the first time.
According to a report from the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists, inappropriate sports footwear can also cause injuries, with 77 per cent of people admitting to not wearing the correct shoes.
