Andre Agassi has revealed that he relied on covering up his receding hairline, as he struggled to cope with it as a youngster.
In an interview with the Guardian, the Wimbledon-winning US tennis player, discussed his body image and when he felt at his most confident.
He explained that at the age of 19 he first noticed that his hair was falling out, something he was surprised at and which caused him to worry about his public appearance for perhaps the first time.
Andre admitted that he instead chose to hide it in the beginning.
"I wore headbands to cover my receding hairline, hats
and then eventually wigs. I felt very fraudulent," he said.
He revealed that we "was so scared and couldn't come to terms with it," and it took until the age of 24 during Wimbledon 1994 when he finally decided to drop the charade and the various headgear.
