Are ankle socks a British summer staple?
This summer there are more British outdoor events than ever before.

The Jubilee may have passed but there's still Euro 2012 to watch, the London 2012 Olympics and Wimbledon all on the agenda.

But when attending any outdoor occasions, UK weather can be very unpredictable, making it a veritable nightmare to decide what to wear.

Telegraph fashion editor, Lisa Armstrong recommends that while it can be tricky to choose the right legwear, ankle socks could be the perfect solution.

While when they are worn with sandals, it is usually consider a fashion faux pas, she suggests that more style conscious women could attempt to coordinate them underneath a strapped wedge heel, or perhaps poking out of a pair of brogues.

The trick is not to be too long as to shorten the legs, however it is also wise to consider the colour.

With socks on show it is also an absolute no-no for them not to be matching.
