Despite the wet and windy weather, this year's Royal Ascot horse racing event saw a menagerie of beautifully dressed women turn out for Ladies Day.
There was a range of extravagant and outlandish hats
on display of all colours imaginable, as well as some humorous patriotic designs, which included a full English breakfast plate, a stamp, and teapot-inspired headgear.
This year's hats seemed to be even more extreme than previous years, which could be in rebellion against the stricter dress code laid down by organisers.
Dress Code Assistants were on hand to decipher whether skirts were below the knee, hats had a base of four inches or more and that no shorts, sheer or narrow straps were worn.
Hats and fascinators had to be worn at all times, according to the more rigorous code.
The official programme confirmed this sentiment, saying: "A day at Ascot is very special, and dressing accordingly is part of the experience."
