Sock monkeys bring cheer
A young lady who was diagnosed with cancer was cheered by her friend's creation - a monkey sock puppet - and now they are planning to make and sell more, it has been reported.

Maddie George was told she had cancer at the age of 23 and now with the help of her pal Holly Lambert they are turning old socks into toys to fund a decent wig, according to the Islington Gazette.

People are able to send their footwear, like patterned socks, to Ms Lambert and half of the money they make will go to the Lymphoma Association, the publication revealed.

"Holly made the first monkey when I got my diagnosis and it was a really sweet thing to do," Ms George told the news provider.

She added that the NHS wigs were not to her liking and if she had to wear one she would not leave the house.

Earlier this month, it was reported that a man who had lost his eyesight had been allowed to see with the help of new technology - well enough to sort his socks.
