Leggings 'must be tailored to wearer's shape'
Women wanting to get the legs looking great this month have been told to ensure their choice matches their body shape, otherwise their ensemble could face the wrath of critical fashionistas, it is believed.

Dijanna Mulhearn of the Sydney Morning Herald said that to pull off leggings as part of a look, people must "resist the urge to wear them as a replacement for pants (unless you're a supermodel) and beware too much going on".

"Don't, for example, overdo it with sparkly legs and a dress - go with one or the other," she continued.

Petite women ought to go with wet-look and sequinned leggings as these can look overwhelming on larger-framed ladies, while simple shapes in matt finishes add to the vision, so long as these girls "never, ever wear cropped or knee-length leggings".

Pear-shaped girls with thicker legs should opt for low sheen in dark colours and team them with skirts or dresses that have more "flirty hemlines"; boots in the same colour can streamline the leg too, Ms Mulhearn continued.

To "balance the weight up top", busty women should go for eye-catching pins, so using bright colours with winter hues is the best bet.

Leggings are still a staple of many celebrity wardrobes, spotted on the legs of Lindsay Lohan and Miley Cyrus on regular occasion.
