New Zealand school asks pupils to pull their socks up
A school in New Zealand has issued new uniform and grooming rules, in an effort to smarten up the appearance of students.

Immerston North Boys High School has told pupils to pull their socks up, and keep them up, according to the Manawatu Standard.

To ensure the boys follow the new guidelines they have even invested in 1,720 pairs of garters, to help keep socks firmly up.

The garters are reportedly designed to fit all leg sizes and were issued to the students this week.

Rector Tim O'Connor told the publication that the boys had been following a trend to wear their socks loose around their ankles, despite being told to pull them up frequently.

"I told them early this term, this is becoming a bit boring. We were getting tired of asking them repeatedly to do it," he said.

All boys found to not be wearing garters are to be punished with detention, Mr O'Connor added.
