Charities frequently ask for old clothing to help stock their shops and raise money for a worthy cause, however one group from Sheffield has made a more unusual request.
Homeless charity the Cathedral Archer Project is asking women to donate new or unused underwear
, due to a "severe shortage" of these garments, The Star reports.
Project worker Sharon Collins told the newspaper that the charity offers an emergency clothing supply, however knickers are always in demand.
"Our supporters are always generous and we receive all sorts of clothing but not many knickers and we do have women who arrive with nothing at all," Ms Collins explained.
She went on to add that the charity distributes around two dozen pairs every month, meaning that the extra supply of underwear would be greatly appreciated.
People wanting to donate knickers should send sizes between eight and 18 into the charity's Campo Lane headquarters in the city centre.
