Wearing cotton socks is 'good for your feet'
People are being urged to ditch the man-made fibres that make feet sweat and instead turn to good, old-fashioned cottonsocks this summer.

The Times of India says that one of the best ways of keeping feet cool and sweat-free during the hot summer months is to avoid synthetic materials and go for natural fibres.

"Stick with good quality cottonsocks. Natural fibres have a good built in ventilation system," the newspaper said.

Other advice for maintaining a healthy pair of feet includes changing your socks at least once in the middle of day, ensuring that you always have a clean, dry pair of socks to put on.

The advice is not just about keeping feet from smelling bad, but can reduce the chances of getting fungal infections such as athlete's foot.

FootCareExpert website also suggests changing socks and footwear regularly to stave off the potential for persistent foot care problems.
