Bournemouth nude 'sock cyclist' denies causing offence
A keen cyclist has been defending his decision to wear nothing but footwear on a seven-mile cycle, which saw him pass a school playground and ride along Bournemouth promenade.

Richard Collins has told magistrates in Bournemouth that he had not strictly been naked because he was wearing socks and trainers.

The father-of-two from Hardwick, Cambridge denies causing harassment, alarm or distress during his seaside jaunt on June 30th.

Speaking to the Bournemouth Echo, friend Robert James, who had accompanied Collins on the ride, explained: "I could hear the sound of children but it was difficult to take a different route because of the one-way system.

"I saw no reaction until we got to the pier and a woman came out of a cafe to take photographs of Richard."

Mr Collins was arrested by Dorset police officers, after a young mother with small children contacted the police.
