Mariah Carey left over-exposed in revealing leggings

Mariah Carey left over-exposed in revealing leggings
Mariah Carey may be keen to show off her post-pregnancy weight loss, however if her recent over-exposure is anything to go by she may need to consider buying clothes a little larger.

This weekend the singer performed at the Top of the Mountain Concert at the Ischgl ski resort in Austria, wearing black and red spandex leggings.

However, while she had paired them with a fur-trimmed jacket in an effort to keep warm the leggings were highly unflattering, highlighting all the wrong areas.

Aside from her colourful legwear, the 42-year-old appeared trim as she strutted around the stage in black boots.

Mariah jetted over to Austria this weekend after renewing her wedding vows to Nick Cannon at the top of the Eiffel Tower late last week.

After the special occasion Nick tweeted: "We get married every year; it's our thing."

Greyhound charity seeks unwanted scarves

Greyhound charity seeks unwanted scarves
The Retired Greyhound Trust is asking men and women across the country to clear out their wardrobes and make a clothing donation.

It is looking specifically for unwanted ladies' scarves to use in a charity sale event at the Spirit of Summer Fair at London's Olympia on May 16th and 17th.

The Trust's chief executive Peter Laurie explained that the charity dedicates itself to finding homes for ex-racing greyhounds and found over 4,000 new homes for dogs last year.

Working with The London Ladies Club he said that the fair will see them offer "a range of elegant and beautiful scarves for sale, including some unique, vintage and collectible designs to suit all styles and budgets".

Supporting the work of the Trust, British model Twiggy said that she too has "personally donated a scarf," and encouraged people to dig deep in their cupboards to see if they have any they no longer wear which could be given to the cause.

Heather Morris attempts socks and sandals outfit

Heather Morris attempts socks and sandals outfit
Glees Heather Morris is usually known for her stunning style on the red carpet, however her latest look left a lot to be desired.

The actress appeared at a TV Academy special screening of the hit musical show in Hollywood wearing a mismatched outfit complete with socks and sandals.

On her top half she wore an odd pairing of a pink top with a black strapped vest on top, while on the bottom she opted for a multicoloured striped mullet skirt.

Heather accessorised her unique ensemble with cream sandals and black ankle socks, which only added to the bizarre mix of colours and layers.

Also at the high profile event was co-star Amber Riley, who fainted and collapsed on the red carpet, after reportedly feeling dizzy.

She now claims to be feeling fine and has refuted any rumours that pregnancy was the reason for the incident.

Sweets pay tribute to royal hats

Sweets pay tribute to royal hats
Some of the most iconic royal headwear designs have been commemorated in edible fashion.

The Berkeley Hotel in London's Knightsbridge has come up with miniature confectionery in the shape of such fashion classics as princess Beatrice's infamous Philip Treacy royal wedding hat, which has been made into a praline.

As well as the nude-coloured pretzel bow hat the queen's crown has been be recreated, as has the Gina Foster fascinator worn by Catherine, duchess of Cambridge at Zara Philip's wedding.

A light pink floral-trim hat and a black Launer London handbag cake have also been made to pay tribute to the queen Elizabeth's classic style.

The confectionery has all been designed to mark the queen's six decades on the throne and has been named The Royal Collection.

It is available to order from May 29th to June 9th.

Zac Efron 'embarrassed' by silly hat

Zac Efron 'embarrassed' by silly hat
Zac Efron is usually spot on when it comes to style, but this doesn't mean that he can't have fun with his look.

On the set of his new movie The Lucky One he chose to go out and buy silly hats for everyone, to poke fun at the film's director.

Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph he said that Scott Highs "wore this really cool hat every day".

Zac then decided it would be funny to go out and buy wacky headgear for the rest of the cast, however he soon regretted his choice of hat.

"Mine was a ten gallon cowboy hat, which didn't look that great!" he joked.

Zac plays Logan Thibault in the new film, which follows a marine searching for the mystery woman he believes helped him through three different tours of Iraq.

Playing his character's love interest is Taylor Schilling, who Zac claims he had "the best time working with".

2012 is the year of the hat

2012 is the year of the hat
Milliner Stephen Jones certainly knows a thing or two about headwear, and has predicted that it won't just be the rich and famous donning the accessories this year.

In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, he claimed that hats would be making a huge comeback this year, saying that men go wild for headgear on the opposite sex and if worn correctly they can serve as "lingerie for the face".

Mr Jones explained: "If a woman wears a hat, she always get served first, she always has the door held open for her. It's extraordinary."

The London-based designer has created a brand new range of hats for this season's Jil Sander collection, with his best-ever selling piece being a common beanie with a birdcage netting veil across the front.

He has collaborated with the likes of John Galliano, Giles Deacon and Marc Jacobs and created hats for the British royal family and celebrity fashion icons such as Dita Von Teese.

Kerry Katona displays slim physique in tight leggings

Kerry Katona displays slim physique in tight leggings
Kerry Katona has famously battled her weight over the past few years, ranging anywhere from a size six to a 14 and back again.

But after undergoing an £8,500 liposuction procedure earlier this month she showed off her newly slim figure outside the ITV studios this week wearing a pair of tight black leggings.

The mother-of-four drew further attention to her toned body in a figure-hugging vest top as she posed for photographers after the cosmetic surgery.

Kerry revealed in her OK! Magazine column last week that she chose to have the lipo and a "tightening" procedure on her stomach, legs and bum in an attempt to rid herself of excess skin and slim-line her figure.

She added that at the minute she weighs around nine and a half stone, however her goal is to tip the scales at eight stone.

Lost Sock Memorial Day commemorated in US

Lost Sock Memorial Day commemorated in US
America is certainly the nation of bizarre holidays, and May 9th footwear-related day is most definitely no exception.

The Ocean Lakes Family Campground in South Carolina took part in the annual event which featured a clothesline and clothes pins for guests to pin their remaining single socks to in the hope of finding their pairs.

Promotional posters were also placed around the campground with headlines stating that they were either "missing" or "wanted" with descriptions of the various lonely socks.

Barb Krumm, director of marketing and public relations at the site, claimed that the team had been looking forward to the holiday for months.

She also added that "guests were giggling as teammates were creating the Lost Sock Memorial Wall", and really got to grips with their Pinterest boards with different sock-related themes.

The campsite is currently enjoying a year-long theme entitled Leap Into Fun, where a host of unofficial holidays and activity events are being held to mark the leap year.

Charity encourages footballers to wear pink socks

Charity encourages footballers to wear pink socks
A charity in Australia is encouraging footballers to try wearing pink on the pitch to help raise awareness of breast cancer.

The McGrath Foundation is currently running the Pull On Your Socks campaign and is recruiting footy players to wear special pink football socks as a symbol of support for women with breast cancer.

Karen Miles, a breast care nurse, told the Ipswich Advertiser that more rural areas often struggle to access breast cancer care services, meaning more nurses are needed.

"The incidence of breast cancer is going up. It's now one in nine women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer some time in their life," she warned.

According to director of the McGrath Foundation, Tracy Bevan, the support from the wider football community could help ensure that more Australians have access to a breast care nurse and are diagnosed quicker.

Clubs looking to get involved can register online to begin showing their support.

Crazy Hats walk raises £35,000 for charity

Crazy Hats walk raises £35,000 for charity
An annual charity extravaganza has raised £35,000 thanks to people wearing an array of unusual headgear.

The tenth annual Crazy Hats walk in aid of the Northamptonshire cancer charity saw 2,400 turn out to take part in the mass walk, the Northampton Chronicle reports.

However, while the amount raised is impressive, the charity is hoping that they can still edge towards the £55,000 raised in total last year.

Charity founder Glennis Hooper urged walkers who are yet to hand in their sponsorship money to do so as soon as possible to help boost funds.

She told the newspaper: "We are really hoping if people are still collecting that they can get their money in soon."

Ms Hooper also thanked everyone for their support and for getting involved in the event, adding "it gives that impetus for us to get going for next year".

Johnny Depp 'avoids' being underwear model-esque vampire

Johnny Depp 'avoids' being underwear model-esque vampire
Johnny Depp has spoken out about the type of vampire he attempted to portray in his new film Dark Shadows.

The actor claimed that he paid close attention to the original Dark Shadows actor Jonathon Frid in Tim Burton's remake of the cult 60s gothic soap opera.

He told Flicks and Bits that "a vampire should look like a vampire", in response to recent movies such as Twilight and The Vampire Diaries.

Johnny's traditional and classic portrayal was then described as "a kind of rebellion against vampires that look like underwear models", perhaps in a reference to teen idol Robert Pattison's main Twilight character Edward Cullen.

The Dark Shadows is out now in cinemas and co-stars Michelle Pfeifer, Helena Bonham-Carter and Eva Green in what has been billed as a dark comedy.

'Queen's' underwear for sale on eBay

'Queen's' underwear for sale on eBay
A pair of silk bloomer's, allegedly once belonging to the Queen is for sale on eBay.

The luxurious cream underwear, which has been embroidered with her initial E and a small crown, is currently commanding bids of almost $5,000 (£3,120) according to The Telegraph.

It was allegedly left on a private plane during the Queen's visit to Chile in 1968. However, this has not been confirmed by official sources, and it is not known whether the undergarments are in fact authentic.

Selling the undies is supposedly the estate of Baron Joseph "Sepy" de Bicske Dobronyi, who is a Hungarian-born royal jeweller, aristocrat and pilot.

A fellow pilot is alleged to have found the underwear and passed it on to Dobronyi, who passed away in 2010.

The eBay listing claims that as no official confirmation has been made by Buckingham Palace "it is the buyer's responsibility to do that on their own before the bidding".

Valerie Trierweiler's sheer tights exude class

Valerie Trierweiler's sheer tights exude class
Valerie Trierweiler may have a lot to live up to in the style stakes as she takes over from Carla Bruni as France's first lady, however she seems to already be making her mark.

She appeared at the Elysee Palace to see her partner Francois Hollande sworn in as the country's new president, wearing a chic black dress with a split skirt.

Valerie paired her dress with a sophisticated long cream coat as well as some classy sheer tights, helping her to beat off any style competition from Carla, who dressed in a shapeless trouser suit.

The new first lady is somewhat revolutionary in French politics, as she is the first to be unmarried and to hold down a career.

She works as a journalist and appears to have worked hard to revitalise her partner Francois' career, putting him on a diet, modernising his looks and remaining in the public eye through her frequent tweets ticking off the media.

Barack Obama jokes about David Beckham's underwear ads

Barack Obama jokes about David Beckham's underwear ads
Barack Obama may be the US president, but that doesn't stop him from also being a part-time comedian.

Welcoming the LA Galaxy football team to the White House he went on to tease the club's captain David Beckham, delivering a series of jokes with perfect comic timing.

He paid tribute to the talented team line up and then went on to joke about a "young up and comer on the team - a guy named David Beckham".

After quips about his age Obama went on to say: "He is tough. In fact, it's a rare man who can be that tough on the field and also have his own line of underwear. David Beckham is that man."

The rest of the team, including former Tottenham star Robbie Keane, were in hysterics at the president's quips and later presented him with a Galaxy football and his very own jersey.

LA Galaxy were welcomed to the White House to be congratulated by the president on their third Major League Soccer Cup victory.

Slash 'pilfered' signature top hat

Slash 'pilfered' signature top hat
Former lead guitarist of Guns N' Roses Slash is famed for his black headgear, sunglasses and dark frizzy hair.

But while the singer's black top hat might be part of his signature stage look, he has admitted that he never bought the item and instead pilfered it when he was young and penniless.

He got the hat in 1985 after wandering around looking for something cool to wear for a gig at the Whisky A Go Go in Los Angeles, he told Kerrang! Magazine.

"I didn't have any money, so I was actually pilfering," Slash admitted.

He then went on to say: "I saw this hat in the store window, went in and took off with it and it just became a thing that I felt really comfortable in."

The 46-year-old revealed that he has a few different hats that he rotates between each morning. However, he always sticks to the same original hat while performing.

US army to introduce armoured underwear

US army to introduce armoured underwear
Protective military clothing is frequently relied upon to minimise the risk of bodily injury for soldiers, especially those serving on the front line.

The US military is seeking to improve this protection and is introducing women's and men's underwear that features armoured padding and will be standard in combat roles.

They look and feel like cycling shorts and have earned the nickname of 'kevlar boxes', in reference to their fabric.

The underwear has been developed to prevent dirt and debris from piercing the skin, and it is hoped that they will help reduce front line injuries.

Lieutenant Colonel Frank Lozano explained the undergarment's purpose to KVUE.

He said: "These injuries can be very traumatic to a soldier's life, especially a young soldier, who may have injuries to the groin region, who may lose reproductive organs. [He] may lose all of his legs, both of his legs at the hip joint."

The secret to the perfect bun: an odd sock!

The secret to the perfect bun: an odd sock!
Oversized buns have become something of a fashion must-have lately, with stars rocking the high chignon frequently in recent months.

This hairdo was first perfected by Sex and the City's Carrie Bradshaw but it can easily be recreated at home, with the help of an odd sock.

Firstly grab a clean sock, preferably in a natural shade not too far from the hair colour.

Cut the toes off to make it the fabric into a tube and then roll it up into a sock donut shape.

Wrap the sock tube around a high ponytail and then begin wrapping sections of hair around the tube, carefully tucking them through the underside of the sock.

Finally all you need to do is to secure the structure with a second hair band and then use a few hair pins to hold it all in place and create fashion-forward hair and a function for odd socks.

Lady Victoria Hervey parades in skimpy underwear

Lady Victoria Hervey parades in skimpy underwear
Lady Victoria Hervey may be famed for being a socialite, however this does not mean that she is immune to fashion faux pas.

As she turned up at the Chopard Mystere party at the Cannes Film Festival last night she certainly made an impression on the red carpet, however possibly for all the wrong reasons.

Lady Hervey wore a see through nude coloured maxi gown, delicately adorned with streaks of silver glitter on each side, however leaving a bare panel running down the centre.

Her sheer dress revealed a naked torso and exposed her underwear beneath, which was nothing but a tiny white thong.

The unusually risqué outfit was finished off with a pair of silver heels, however in comparison to other glamorous ladies at the event her ensemble appeared tacky rather than elegant.

Kelly Brook meanwhile ensured all eyes were on her in a floor-length red satin gown, while Rita Ora stole the spotlight in an all-white long-sleeved dress with white fur stole.

Kenilworth charity makes appeal using hats

Kenilworth charity makes appeal using hats
A charity campaign from Kenilworth has resorted to unusual measures to encourage extra donations from the public.

The Hats for Headway Day is to take place this weekend to help the Choose Charity Shops campaign raise awareness and funds for people affected by brain injury.

It is encouraging people to wear hats for the day in return for a small donation to charity, Kenilworth Weekly News reports.

Taking part in the day will be Waverley Day Centre, who Malcolm Boote, manager of Kenilworth's Headway, praised for their kind contribution.

"The centre has been incredibly supportive of our shop here in Kenilworth, providing us with regular stock donations, for which we are very grateful," Mr Boote told the newspaper.

He added that he hoped that everyone at the centre had lots of fun on Hats for Headway Day, explaining that by taking part "they'll be helping us to improve life after brain injury".

England footballers issued with official underwear
England footballers have been told not to bother packing pants for this summer's European Championships as they will be provided for them.

Team underwear for the trip to Poland and Ukraine is reportedly being given to the stars, according to Three Lions newbie, John Ruddy, who let slip the bizarre perk to The Sun.

The Norwich goalkeeper said: "I've been told to take boots, gloves, trainers, a few casual clothes and toiletries.

"I'm under the impression everything else will be provided for me. We've got suits and they're providing underwear for us," he added.

Roy Hodgson's men will kick off their Euro campaign against France on June 11th in the Ukraine, with uncapped Ruddy excited to test himself against some of the world's best strikers.

He also revealed that he can't wait to get started, adding "my call-up is the icing on the cake after an exceptional two years at Norwich".

Bridport prepares for third hat festival

Bridport prepares for third hat festival
Bridport is preparing for a headwear extravaganza this September.

The town is expecting an invasion of visitors as part of its third annual hat festival, the Dorset Echo reports.

In its first year the event attracted 4,500 people, with the number doubling to 9,000 during 2011.

Its organiser Roger Snook even went on to win the award for the most significant contribution to local tourism thanks to the festival.

"The instant success of the festival did take me by surprise a bit," he told the newspaper.

"Quite honestly the interest in the hat industry worldwide has been absolutely intriguing. Last year we had people from Australia come over specially, people from Canada and America," Mr Snook added.

The organiser claimed that everyone really took the event to heart, each wearing a hat, regardless of their age. "You are all wearing a hat and everybody's happy," he said.

David Beckham 'planning to send underwear to Obama'

David Beckham 'planning to send underwear to Obama'
David Beckham is reportedly planning to have the last laugh after president Barack Obama poked fun at his clothing line.

The footballer was mocked by Obama in front of the entire Los Angeles Galaxy team recently after they were invited to visit the White House to celebrate winning the Major League Soccer Cup.

Beckham told Extra at the Cedars-Sinai Sports Spectacular over the weekend that he planned to send the president lots of his new underwear designs.

"He gave my underwear a little bit of a plug - I'm definitely going to send him a big box of it," he joked.

Obama remarked that Beckham had a knack for combining athletic prowess with commercial appeal, claiming: "It is a rare man who can be that tough on the field and also have his own line of underwear."

Beckham laughed off the comments made on his visit, including other jibes made about his age.

Youngsters don hats to commemorate parent

Youngsters don hats to commemorate parent
School children in Portsmouth have helped raise hundreds of pounds in memory of their classmate's dad.

Youngsters at the Hook-with-Warsash School wore a variety of hats to school to raise money for Brain Tumour Research, following the death of 35-year-old Ross Pearman, according to the Portsmouth News.

His five-year-old son Phoenix, who attends the school, was one of many kids sponsored to wear hats for the day, which resulted in £637 being raised for the charity.

Ross' wife Amanda, who also has an infant son, said that she was extremely grateful to the kids for helping raise the money, and hailed the event for increasing awareness of brain tumours.

"The amount of people that are dying of brain tumours - the money just isn't there. The government isn't supporting it enough," Mrs Pearson explained.

Meanwhile headteacher Christopher Hines told the newspaper: "It was lovely to see the support that the children, parents and staff were keen to give to this special day."

New Zealand group sell socks for earthquake campaign

New Zealand group sell socks for earthquake campaign
An initiative in New Zealand has won an award for its fundraising efforts, helping Canterbury earthquake victims.

The Aftersocks team achieved the highest accolade at the Fundraising Institute of New Zealand's annual awards, the Bay of Plenty Times reports.

Rural Women manufactured socks in a New Zealand merino wool blend and were sold to help those affected by the devastating national disaster.

National president of the organisation, Liz Evans, told the newspaper that she was extremely pleased with the campaign's success, after almost 19,000 pairs were sold, far surpassing their 1,000 pair target.

The funky red and black striped socks incorporated a seismograph image of the 2010 quake, helping to raise awareness as well as money.

"Through social networking Aftersocks caught people's imaginations and sales rocketed," Ms Evans explained.

A total of $110,000 (£69,129) has so far been raised for the Christchurch Mayoral Fund.

Mums make sock companions for sick children

Mums make sock companions for sick children
Mums in New Zealand have begun a new project to turn unwanted leg wear into cuddly companions for sick children.

Two mothers from Wellington have begun creating the toys out of old socks, as part of the Great Sock Monkey Challenge, the Dominion Post.

Rachelle Toimata and Olivia Amoah are hoping that every child in the country with a critical or long-term illness will be able to receive one.

The idea was concocted when Mrs Amoah gave one to her son Elijah to comfort him on a routine hospital visit, where she soon realised the difference a sock monkey could make.

After making many more the pair is trying to encourage others to make their own.

They are hoping to run free workshops and have sock monkey-making hangouts.

"I would love it if for each city that has a hospital, a group was set up," Mrs Amoah told the newspaper.
