Bridport is preparing for a headwear extravaganza this September.
The town is expecting an invasion of visitors as part of its third annual hat
festival, the Dorset Echo reports.
In its first year the event attracted 4,500 people, with the number doubling to 9,000 during 2011.
Its organiser Roger Snook even went on to win the award for the most significant contribution to local tourism thanks to the festival.
"The instant success of the festival did take me by surprise a bit," he told the newspaper.
"Quite honestly the interest in the hat industry worldwide has been absolutely intriguing. Last year we had people from Australia come over specially, people from Canada and America," Mr Snook added.
The organiser claimed that everyone really took the event to heart, each wearing a hat, regardless of their age. "You are all wearing a hat and everybody's happy," he said.
