Oxfordshire firefighters issued leggings
Firefighters in Oxfordshire are ditching their traditional uniforms, in favour of more modern kit.

The traditional dark blue firefighter uniforms came complete with bright yellow helmets, however the new clothes will involve bright gold suits with black and white headgear, the Oxford Mail reports.

Oxfordshire County Council's Fire and Rescue Service has issued a new set of uniform offer better protection.

It includes a fire helmet, anti-flash hood, gloves, a tunic, leggings and boots.

Fire crews at Rewley Road fire station have been testing out the new uniforms and are extremely pleased with the changes.

Station manager, Dave Bray told the newspaper: "They are nice and comfortable.

"It certainly represents the latest technology available within firefighting," he added.

The old uniforms are to be recycled, with the new kit currently being distributed across the region.
