Madonna continued to shock and surprise as the pop star turned all punk at the Costume Institute of The Metropolitan Museum of Art's charity gala in New York on Monday.
Thoroughly embracing the launch of the exhibition Punk: Chaos to Couture, the 54-year-old opted to take a full on approach to punk style with a studded blue tartan jacket, with a fishnet under layer, and leather gloves, adding to her jet black haircut.
Her outfit may be more designer chic than DIY Sid Vicious, but in a way that's what the whole event is about, with organisers trying to create a link between the homemade outfits of the punk era with high end fashion.
However, punk icons John Lydon, aka Johnny Rotten, from the Sex Pistols and Paul Simonon from the Clash stayed away from event, saying that organisers had "missed the point" of the rebellious 1970s subculture.
