Hosiery is 'positive economic indicator'
Hosiery is defying current market conditions by recording a 2.3 per cent rise in sales as an industry, it has been revealed.

According to Cheryl Lu-Lien Tan, a fashion blogger for the Wall Street Journal, the popularity of opaque tights and other patterned offerings on the catwalk is a big factor in the stocking sector's success.

It was noted that many were going for legwear as it provided a cheap alternative to revolutionising a wardrobe.

Misty Elliott of hosiery company Spanx commented: "Many of our stores are telling us that women are looking for accessories like patterned tights that revamp last year's dress or autumnise a summer dress."

According to Christina L of Cleveland.com, this autumn demanded that people invest in accessories such as scarves, belts and jewellery to update a look as well as the obvious choice of colourful or patterned tights.
