Socks are 'surprisingly easy to get wrong'
A sock specialist has highlighted a number of things that legwear lovers should avoid when buying socks in the foreseeable future.

MSN India fashion correspondent Meenakshi Shankar first noted the role of white socks in day-to-day living, saying that they should only ever be used for sports.

She continued: "Black socks should even be worn with jeans, so section off your sock drawer and keep your white socks close to your workout clothes and well away from your dress-up wardrobe."

Furthermore, Ms Shankar said that socks should always be paired with the colour of a person's trousers to minimise fashion clashes.

Ankle socks are also a solid investment for shorts as longer legwear did not suit shorts at all, she concluded.

In a social experiment, friends Maddy M and Craig H set up the Drinking Sock Society, with the pair wearing and sharing a pair of multicoloured socks to wear when enjoying a tipple together.
