While most men bemoan receiving the same gifts every Christmas, actor Bill Nighy appears completely resigned to his fate.
The Love Actually star even believes there is something sophisticated about receiving socks
as a gift, declaring he is "thrilled" when he "cracks open a new pair".
In an interview with the Daily Express, Nighy explained: "It's quite decadent. I sometimes buy six at a time and I'll have six new socks. You just go 'crack!' each morning and get the tissue paper out. It's a thrill."
Socks will prove more than just stocking fillers in the run up to Christmas, with professional rugby players donning some special legwear
to encourage charitable donations to support injured services men and women.
Players taking part in the Heroes Rugby Challenge at Twickenham Stadium on December 3rd will don some special striped socks
in aid of Help for Heroes.
Organisers have high hopes they will raise over £1 million for the event, expecting to sell 70,000 tickets.
