The world of football is no stranger to pre-match rituals, but Manchester United and England defender Phil Jones may have set a new standard for bizarre behaviour.
Before every game throughout his professional career, the former Blackburn star deliberately varies the order in which he puts on his socks
before a game.
In an interview published on the official Manchester United website last week, the 19-year-old said: "This sounds really stupid, but it depends on whether we're at home or away.
"The fixtures list United on the left side when we're at home and on the right when we're away. So this weekend, I'll put my right sock
on first, because it will be Swansea V United."
However, the £16 million starlet's bizarre match superstition does not stop at socks. He admitted that he also tries to avoid stepping on the white lines on the pitch.
