Wear tights to avoid dry skin on your legs
Winter wind and cold weather can play havoc with people's skin, which is even more incentive to wrap up warm and cover extremities over the coming months.

Wind and indoor heating tends to dry people's skin out, particularly in the winter months, explained expertbeauty.com dermatologist Dr Helen Robertshaw.

She advises avoiding all standard soaps, and switching to a moisturising soap complemented by a good moisturising cream to rid yourself of irritated skin.

Choosing high quality leggings or tights can also prove crucial, but wearing them in the first place is an important first step and can prevent dry, cracked skin spreading to the legs, ankles and knees.

Dr Robertshaw added: "Moisturising the skin well will help.

"There are many moisturising products on the shelves but you do not need to spend a lot of money."

Winter is not the only season you may need to consider options to combat itchy skin.

Summer sun and humidity can also contribute to discomfort, so make sure you stock up on a good range of summer tights and leggings too.
