Iveta's Strictly the star of the show

Iveta's Strictly the star of the show

Strictly Come Dancing star Iveta Lukosiute popped in to watch Pixie Lott take to the stage at London's Under The Bridge club last night.

While Pixie, seen as one of the favourites to win the BBC One show, went for a golden playsuit, Iveta opted for the classic rock chick look.

The celebrity dancer was dressed almost head to toe in black leather, with knee-length boots, a black jacket and black tights .

A black dress with beige highlights on the neck and hem anchored the look, while carefully coordinated accessories including a clutch bag helped her to stand out even more.

Pixie, who was promoting her greatest hits album Platinum Pixie, mentioned another Strictly favourite, host Claudia Winkleman, at her show.

She praised Claudia's bravery after her eight-year-old daughter was left badly burned in an accident on Halloween.

But with Claudia back on the show and Iveta rocking the leather look, Strictly looks set to carry on going from strength to strength.

Le Bon is queen of the ice

Le Bon is queen of the ice

Amber Le Bon has proved that snow and ice are no reason to trade tights for warm winter leggings at the launch of an ice rink.

And the 25-year-old model, daughter of Simon and Yasmin Le Bon, chose a skater-style pleated skirt at the opening of Skate at Somerset House in London.

She added a pair of black socks to complete the look before swapping her grey-heeled ankle boots for ice skates.

On top she wore a thick wool funnel neck under a sleek black coat to retain the slinky look while protecting against any chills or spills that she might get on the ice.

Gloves and a long pony tail finished the look, allowing the model and musical heiress to mix style with practicality.

Hoff's Scot the look

Hoff's Scot the look

It was Hasselfhoff the Brave at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Glasgow as the Knight Rider star took to the stage in that traditional piece of Highlands dress - the kilt.

David Hasselhoff donned the grey tartan garment as well as a pair of knee socks at the ceremony held at the Hydro arena by the River Clyde.

The Hoff, 62, who wore the traditional sporran over the top of the kilt, secured by a silver chain, was attending the show with his girlfriend, Hayley Roberts, 34, from Wales.

The Baywatch actor, who presented Ariana Grande with the Best Female award at the show, later took part in a sketch in which he appeared as Bravehoff, complete with blue paint on his face, in a parody of the movie Braveheart.

Not just game for a laugh, Hasselhoff also acknowledged the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, an event he is linked to after he famously performed the song Looking For Freedom on top.

Vets putting lost socks to good use

Vets putting lost socks to good use

Staff at Paignton Zoo have found a novel way to keep sick animals warm - with lost socks .

Workers at the Devon zoo came up with the idea after a small sock was found left behind on a brick wall outside the vet centre.

Veterinary nurse Celine Campana then found that there was a small collection of socks being unused in the lost property department.

She said that as the socks often went unclaimed - and with charities generally not taking donations of odd pairs - she decided to start using them at the centre.

Head of veterinary services Ghislaine Sayers said that when the animals - such as monkeys - are anaesthetised, their legs and arms are wrapped in bubble wrap for insulation.

And the staff have found the socks are a simple and effective way of keeping this bubble wrap in place.

Now any socks that have been left in lost property for at least six weeks are passed on to the veterinary team.

Aniston wows film premiere crowds

Aniston wows film premiere crowds

Jennifer Aniston brought some Hollywood glamour to Leicester Square as she walked the red carpet for the premiere of Horrible Bosses 2.

Fans of the original film can once again see Dale, Kurt and Nick attempt to take down their managers - this time by starting their own business.

And Jen brought out a bit of her mean girl character yesterday with her all black attire, which made sure all eyes were fixed firmly on her.

Battle of the high streets begins

Battle of the high streets begins

Smaller streets in the West End of London are mounting a challenge for festive trade against their bigger rivals.

Bond Street - one of the lesser thoroughfares leading the fight - hosted a party to celebrate its peacock illuminations, honouring the male dandies of the late 1700s who were frequently seen on the street.

Dancers re-enacted the Bond Street Roll, the distinctive strutting walk of Beau Brummel and his cohorts, during the festivities.

Carnaby Street in Soho, meanwhile, recently held a shopping party which included a DJ sets from The Fox Problem's Gemma Cairney, spotted looking nicely wrapped up for the season in a stylish red hat . Becky Tong and Leah Weller also played to the crowds at the event.

The smaller streets are hoping to tempt shoppers away from the main shopping centres in the affluent West End by holding their own parties over the festive period and putting up their own Christmas lights.

Bond Street's illuminations cost £1 million and use more than a quarter of a million LED lights.

Hats and scarves out for festive market

Hats and scarves out for festive market

The hats and scarves were out in full force this weekend at London's Southbank as the Christmas market rolled into town.

The first weekend of the Southbank Centre's popular winter festival brought out the crowds.

Most of them were wrapped up warm in fashionable Heat Holders hats or chequered scarves to ward off the worse the run-up to winter had to throw at them.

The festival, which kicked off last Tuesday, offers visitors a 50-stall market of wooden chalets comprising everything from sheepskin rugs to Christmas wreaths, from gingerbread to local mead.

Mulled wine and other festive refreshments are on offer inside an 18-metre Christmas tree, while a festive train ferries visitors to the Festival Pier from Hungerford Bridge.

Five giant rabbits are glowing from 10am to 11pm daily. The seven-metre high illuminated bunnies come courtesy of Amanda Parer, an Australian artist.

And if all this isn't enough, you can lose yourself in a maze of 300 Black Forest trees. The German blue spruces provide the perfect labyrinth and children will get a little prize at the end.

The festival runs until January 4 and is open from 10am to 10pm daily, apart from the rabbits.

Dumb Jim shows he's style smart

Dumb Jim shows he's style smart

He may have been in town to promote his latest film Dumb and Dumber To, but Jim Carrey showed he had plenty of style sense in London last night.

Wearing a navy blue scarf , leather jacket and white trousers, Carrey looked every inch the star as he posed for photographers on the red carpet at the Connaught Hotel.

The film, which will be released on December 19, reunites Carrey with original co-star Jeff Daniels, who could not attend the photocall as he is making another movie.

But Carrey, 52, came up with an innovative stand-in for his friend, bringing along a a custom-made puppet of Daniels to accompany him on his trip to London.

Dumb and Dumber To revisits Carrey's character Lloyd Christmas and Daniels' Harry Dunne 20 years on from the original film.

They get up to their usual dim-witted antics, heading out on the road in search of Harry's long-lost daughter.

Amber's red hot at make-up launch

She's the daughter of pop star Simon and supermodel Yasmin.

And model Amber Le Bon showed off that impeccable pedigree last night when she stunned crowds at the launch of a new make-up line.

Amber is seen here with Charlotte Tilbury, the celebrity make-up artist behind the new brand and the London launch event.

Even though Amber appeared with 10 other glamorous supermodels at the event, she still managed to stand out.

The event was as star-studded as Le Bon's shoes, with Lindsey Lohan also in attendance in a semi-translucent top, alongside Made in Chelsea star Millie Mackintosh and model Atlanta de Cadenet Taylor.

Socks and sandals - cool at last

Socks and sandals - cool at last

For years it's been seen as a big fashion no-no, with those sporting the look often viewed as a laughing stock.

But, as with many trends, socks and sandals it seems are now acceptable together. And according to leading fashion experts - have even become the latest must-have accessories.

Grazia magazine's senior fashion news editor, Katherine Ormerod, says those wanting to perfect the look should opt for chunky, ribbed socks and double-strap flat footwear.

She singles out Birkenstock - the German sandal maker - for providing an affordable alternative to designer brands, dubbing the new look 'Stocks and socks'.

But she says to stay looking cool people should avoid covering up their whole leg and should keep some bare skin on show.

Avoid tights, says Ormerod, and team the socks and sandals with bare legs, a chunky jacket and a pretty dress.

And when it comes to the socks, she says, people should avoid pulling them up and go for hiking-style brown, grey or olive.

Ormerod says the trend can also be followed by men who can pair the socks with rolled-up jeans, lumberjack shirt and a beard.

The look has been sported by British singer Rita Ora and the Olsen twins - the US actresses and fashion designers - as well as being seen on various catwalks and mentioned in leading fashion blogs.

It's hats off to Joan for charity knit

It's hats off to Joan for charity knit

A great-grandmother who knits at the drop of a hat has made 175 mini woolly coverings for smoothie bottles as a part of a campaign to help pensioners keep warm this winter.

Joan Milne, 87, and fellow members of the Movers and Shakers group in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, have knitted hundreds of the tiny hats for drinks firm Innocent's Big Knit event.

The hats can be found on top of the company's smoothie bottles in supermarkets and 25p from the selling price will go to Age UK Bucks to provide blankets, hot meals and hot-water bottles for pensioners living in the area.

The Innocent campaign is now in its 11th year and Joan's efforts are expected to help Innocent pass on £143.50 to the cause.

When she isn't spending time with her extensive family of four children, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, Joan likes to sit and knit.

She admits that when she picks up her knitting needles she often doesn't know quite what she will create.

Blondie pair black together at awards

Made on the red carpet

Made on the red carpet

The musical version of Made In Dagenham has been described as full of visual flair and TV-presenter-turned-theatre-actress Anna Williamson definitely had her own flair on the red carpet at the opening night.

Williamson, best known for presenting on CITV and making the semi-final of Splash!, used dark black tights and black shoes to set off a bright red, pleated dress with a lacy bodice at the at the Adelphi theatre in Central London.

After receiving a lot of attention for her legs in the second series of ITV's diving game show, where she was the most successful woman, it seems that Williamson decided to keep them under wraps.

Made In Dagenham director, Rupert Goold, was the man behind the glamour in the musical remake of a the 2010 film.

His upbeat revisualisation tells the story of a strike that aimed to get equal pay for women and that turned into one of the biggest events in the history of gender equality.

As This Morning's agony aunt, Williamson is also no doubt familiar with the trials and tribulations of both men and women.

Whatever she made of the play, she made Sockshop's day.

Chelsea wonder kid is 'the new Xavi'

Chelsea wonder kid is 'the new Xavi'

Chelsea's latest teenage wonder kid has all the credentials to make it to the top, according to his former coach.

Belgian Charly Musonda Junior, 17, has already tasted success, pictured here in football socks during Chelsea's thrilling 7-6 aggregate FA Youth Cup triumph over Fulham this year.

Johan Boskamp, Musonda's former coach at Anderlecht, describes him as a cross between World Cup-winning Spain and Barcelona midfielders Andres Iniesta and Xavi.

And Boskamp should know. He started training Musonda from the age of 15.

Musonda comes with a great pedigree. His father Charly senior graced the Anderlecht shirt for a decade, while two brothers, both older than him, have also been on Chelsea's books.

Musonda Junior's amazing skills levels are showcased on an internet video depicting him playing keepy-uppy with a little ball of socks .

He's been at Stamford Bridge since 2012 and soon established himself as a leading light in the under-21 squad.
