Celebrities donating socks for 'Socktober'
Celebrities have been donating their leg wear to a charity auction on Peterborough.

Free Kicks Foundation is selling socks from famous feet every day on eBay throughout the month of 'Socktober' in order to raise money for the children's charity.

Co-founder of the organisation, Steve Thorpe told the BBC that the name was thought up in January and then they had to decide how to involve socks.

"We think it's quite a unique idea that will really capture people's imagination," he explained, adding that it was just a matter of pestering celebrities.

Famous faces who have donated their socks include boxer Ricky Hatton, journalist Alastair Campbell, footballer Fabio Borini and swimmer Ellie Simmonds.

Mr Thorpe said: "The majority of them had been washed first, but there are a few that have a bit of a used smell about them."

As well as legwear a selection of signed sports memorabilia is being included in the daily auctions.
