While the metrosexual trend continues to thrive, it seems that many men are still relying on women to buy much of their clothes.
New research from Sainsbury's has found that two-thirds of men still depend on their mothers, wives and girlfriends to keep their underwear
drawer fully stocked.
They also reportedly let they ladies dictate the style, giving them a choice of y-fronts, boxer shorts and brightly-coloured trunks.
A spokesman for the supermarket, said: "We've noticed a 30 per cent rise in sales of men's pants over the last year and our stores tell us that it's ladies looking to revamp their partners' underwear drawers."
With the rise of celebrity endorsements, the study also found that fitted trunk sales are becoming more popular than traditional boxers for the first time.
This is partly due to stars such as David Beckham, Thom Evans and David Gandy who are famed for wearing tight underwear.
