Basketball players charged with sock theft
Two Drake University basketball players may have harmed their career prospects, after they were recently caught shoplifting.

The team's leading scorer and rebounder Rayvonte Rice and teammate Kurt Alexander were arrested last week for stealing $50 (£30.98) worth of sports socks, in a case that has baffled the Iowa media.

Both players have been suspended indefinitely over the sock stealing incident, which the Bulldogs have been quick to condemn.

Athletic director of the team, Sandy Hatfield Clubb, told the Des Moines Register: "The decision made by these young men is not reflective of the expectations of character and responsibility to which we hold all student-athletes."

Each of the men has been tipped to lead successful basketball careers, with Rayvonte Rice even meeting Barack Obama last year.

Despite this unusual incident, the police have told local media that neither of the men were intoxicated and they were sorry for their actions.
