'Geordie' pantsman attempts new world record
A north-east man is confident that he has beaten the world record for the most pairs of pants worn at once.

Gary Craig of Whitburn, who is better-known as the 'Geordie' pantsman, found his way into the Guinness World Records books last year when he managed to pull on 211 pairs of men's underwear.

However, the 53-year-old was bested in February when American Janine Keblish managed to fit on 252 pairs of underwear.

But, with Sunday's Great North Run going on, Mr Craig decided to try and reclaim his record, the Sunderland Echo reports.

He told the newspaper: "It went very, very well and official number is 302. I wanted to be the first person to put on over 300 pairs and I did it."

Mr Craig added: "I wanted to break the record by so much that if anyone else ever does manage to break it, they will definitely deserve it."
