White socks and smart shoes 'are fashion faux pas'
When it comes to fashion faux pas, it seems that there are some combinations of clothing which have fallen out of favour.

According to a new study by The Mailbox ahead of Style Birmingham Live, wearing white socks with smart shoes is an absolute no-no.

This is also the case when wearing socks and sandals together, the poll found.

Topping the list of top fashion disasters were puffball skirts, made popular by acts such as Pepsi and Shirley in the mid-80s.

Other high ranking designs on the list included tracksuits, high-heeled jelly shoes, dungarees, ponchos, white cow boy boots, bum-bags and Union Jack shorts.

Tarah Hewitt, marketing manager at The Mailbox, said: "What is and isn't fashionable is always going to be debateable as it's largely down to personal choice and opinions."

She went on to claim that certain people can pull off these items, citing Kate Moss' ability to look great in a poncho.
