A Gloucestershire man claims that he owns the oldest pair of socks in Britain.
Frank Tunbridge, 55, from Podsmead, Gloucester told the Metro that he has been wearing a pair of nylon wool mix socks for 25 years.
He claims that despite wearing the socks every week for the past quarter of a century he has only just noticed the first holes starting to appear.
"The funny thing is that I bought another pair of the same socks at the time and they didn't last anywhere near as long as this pair. I don't know why," he said.
Mr Tunbridge said he has walked hundreds of miles in the socks pursuing his hobby as a big cat tracker.
They have taken him right across the country as he records suspected sightings of panthers and other big cats.
"My wife washes them and I wear them when I am looking for big cats, summer or winter. They are very comfortable," he added.
