Sockshop Spend to Give: Mind
Posted 25th January 2013 by Katrina
You might remember that last November we launched a scheme called SockShop: Spend to Give, where we revealed that we would donate 20% of our proceeds to a nominated charity every last Friday of the month.
We kicked off Charity Friday – which it has become affectionately known - by supporting homeless charity Crisis, and after having a break for Christmas we decided that the organisation we’d support for January would be the mental health charity Mind.
Our thoughts behind choosing Mind is that January is renowned for being a particularly difficult month, with many people experiencing the ‘January blues’, and that it would be a good time to highlight a charity that deals specifically in providing support and help to people with mental health problems.
Mind’s mission is to not give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect. They do this by providing information through helplines, publications and websites, offering support through local services and campaigning on a range of issues that could affect anybody with a mental health problem.
“The help and support I received from my local Mind played a major part in my recovery. The life lessons I have learnt will stay with me and help me if I ever suffer depression again. Mind has given me my life back – I just cannot say thank you enough.”
We’re really pleased that we could support support Mind on Friday 25th January and hope that everyone got behind Charity Friday so we could raise as much money as possible for this fantastic charity.
