Going with the flow – how to put together a summery photoshoot when it’s pouring with rain

Posted by Katrina

A couple of weeks ago, when the sun was shining and the whole country felt optimistic about actually having a hot summer this year, we planned to show off our gorgeous accessories in an outdoor picnic-themed photoshoot.

But then the rain came. And it hasn’t gone away. Luckily, we had a plan b, and decided to try to recreate a sunny, fun vibe in the studio.

So I thought I’d give you a little insight into how we successfully managed to put together a shoot that captured the feeling of summer, inside a building as it poured down with rain!

We took:

One board full of different model poses taken from a big pile of magazines

Some flowers and props that evoke a vintage, tea party feeling

Three gorgeous, pastel-y colour backgrounds

We then picked out:

A variety of outfits including summer dresses, a denim playsuit and floaty skirts

Some cute, casual shoes and trainers

And of course, our fab range of spring/summer socks, tights and accessories from brands including Jonathan Aston

Finally, we threw in:

A stylist to co-ordinate the outfits

A photographer to plan and capture the shots

A model (with beautiful auburn hair!) to create fun and interesting poses

And we got this...
