The best dressed characters from every Star Wars film

Posted by SOCKSHOP

Star Wars is known for many things – its exciting action, spine-tingling score and The Force. But over the course of 8 films (so far) and decades of filmmaking, there have also been a few fashion favourites in the galaxy far, far, away.

We take a look at the best dressed characters from each movie…

Phantom Menace: Darth Maul
By far the coolest character in the first (chronologically speaking) Star Wars film. His long black robes and vivid red face make him stand out from the drab cloaks of the Jedi. He also knows how to accessorise with the coolest lightsaber in the entire Star Wars universe. The devil does get the best clothes.

Attack of the Clones: Bail Organa
The adoptive father of Princess Leia, Jimmy Smits portrayed the Senator in this lacklustre sequel. And he brought the cool, from his sci-fi woolly polo necks to his perfectly fitted cape.

Revenge of the Sith: Padmé Amidala
While she’d rocked some crazy outfits during the previous movies, Natalie Portman’s Padmé showcased a softer side in the final of the prequel trilogy. From the 70s style maternity dress in pastel blue to Leia-inspired outfit with leather detailing, she added a bit of beauty to a dark tale.

Rogue One: Jyn Erso
The first of the standalone Star Wars movies might not have had many Jedi, but it did bring with it the classic Star Wars aesthetic. And Felicity Jones’s Jyn Erso rocked a traditional sci-fi look with modern styling. From her Han Solo-esque vest to the practical, yet cool, head scarf she seemed to represent a history of the series while also adding something new.

A New Hope: Han Solo
Sometimes it’s the simplest of outfits that are the coolest – and Han Solo is one of the coolest characters of all time. His basic get-up of dusty cream shirt, black trousers and black vest has become a classic. It’s one you could almost get away with on the high street. It says practical but stylish.

The Empire Strikes Back: Lando Calrissian
At the other end of the sartorial scale to Han Solo is his frenemy Lando Calrissian. Billy Dee Williams is as suave as they come – you can see why people trusted him while also keeping an eye out for a double-cross. His disco-inspired baby blue cape with gold trim and black fur colour is iconic.

Return of the Jedi: Boba Fett
Less high street fashion, more utilitarian chic. If there’s anyone in Star Wars that could battle Han Solo for coolest character, it’s Boba Fett. It was the combo of that mysterious helmet, his jet pack and cape that did it. The helmet and jet pack said business, the cape said style.

The Force Awakens: Captain Phasma
There are more cool characters in this recent addition than in many of the other movies, whether it’s Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron or John Boyega’s Finn. But for best dressed we have to go for Captain Phasma - a stormtrooper with added bling. Not only does the outfit have sleeker lines than the original models, it’s also in chrome.
