5 day out ideas before the kids go back to school

With term time fast approaching, it’s not too late to take the little ones on a memorable day out for a last hoorah. We’ve come up with some of the best ideas to save you the hassle…
  


  

Clifton Park theme park
You may have taken the kids to Thorpe Park, Chessington World of Adventures or Alton Towers more times than you can count. If you’re growing tired of the same old rides but want to seek the same thrills, why not take them to Clifton Park? This hidden gem made it on Trip Advisor’s top 10 best amusement parks. Home to a vibrant play area, interactive museum, water splash section, Clifton express train, stunning gardens, sports facilities and café… there’s something for everyone.

Dreamland Margate
Lap up the last of summer with a trip to sunny Margate – the UK’s up and coming seaside destination. Who needs Brighton or Bournemouth when you can entertain the kids for hours at the town’s traditional funfair? Transport them – and yourself – back in time and enjoy vintage attractions like roller skating, art exhibits and more than 25 old and new classic rides. That’s before we get onto indulging in all your favourite seaside food.

Bekonscot Model Village & Railway
Who wouldn’t love the world’s oldest original model village? Opened in 1929, you can see what England used to look like while feeling like a giant. There’s a miniature railway, ‘real-life’ rideable railway and a children’s play area with games. Plus, the gardens contain more than 3,000 shrubs and trees – some planted when it was first built – so you can enjoy an authentic botanical experience too. 
  


  
Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre
A museum is always a safe option, but why not switch it up from the Natural History Museums of this world and instead learn more about everyone’s favourite children’s writer? Found in Missenden – where Dahl lived for 36 years – the whole family can enjoy interactive exhibitions, live storytelling, walking trails and treats at the café.

Hever Castle
To give the kids a bit of a history lesson – but not a boring one – take a trip to this 13^th century castle in Kent, well-known known for being Anne Boleyn’s childhood home. When you’re not busy exploring the postcard-ready castle, stroll around the surrounding gardens to stumble across mazes, a playground, a boating lake and more. The kids can even try their hand at some archery (in classes, of course) if they truly get in the spirit.
